GONE!

The title says it all today. Take for example...
It's our last day together here on C-shift. Next day Coon, Opie and myself report to #3 station.... GONE!
Unfortunate circumstances caused the Dept. to resend promotions. Coon's boomerang bugles.....GONE!
Last but not least, my lip is FREEZING...Mustache GONE!
Hey, it aint so bad. We've had a really good run here at #9C and half the boys are staying. Me Coon and Opie are really just moving up the street so we'll see each other I'm sure. We've made some great memories here together. Some we can tell and others that will have to wait a while. Several visitors stopped in today to wish us luck. Our good friend from the shriners Roy Lane. Retired Lt. Mikey Overacker and retired FF Kenny Walker.

Opie came in from his day off so that we could all have a last meal together. Steak, baked potato, salad ummmm ummm! Kind of an eventful day. A lot of stress, anxiety etc. The word on the street is 50 some moves department wide...who knows. A lot of unknowns and questions. Schmoe left some good advice in last days comment section..."It's never as good as you think it's going to be, it's never as bad as you think it's going to be. It is what it is and we'll try to get by." The look on Coon's face says it all

I'm not sure what will happen with the blog here as far as C-shift goes. I hope the boys will keep it going. As far as from #3..who knows.. I haven't decided yet. I want to say thanks to all the folks who follow us here. I must admit that I wasn't too keen on the idea at first but grew to really enjoy our postings. Most of all, THANKS to the "Boys of 9C". They're not misfits at all...ok maybe Tyrone. I'd say that not too many Captains get the honor of going through doors with a crew like mine. Top notch all of em! They should and can be proud of the work we've done together as well as for their personal accomplishments. They made coming to work fun again and I will always cherish the memories we've made together. I'll leave you with a few pics of us ....

Oh wait here's another..... all the beer

GONE!
And the shot of the missing mustache. A lip not seen since 1991 (last pictured with now Battalion Chief Teddy Adkins)

Hey #9...THANKS FOR THE RIDE LADY!! Capt. Wines

Hey Brothers, As a recent follower I have to say I hope you keep up the blog no matter where you go. Both from 9's and 3's. You got flair.

Sorry to hear about the bommerang promotion and the breakup. Schmoe speaks some good advice.

Be safe brothers and Capt start regrowing that thing will ya?

Sorry to hear about you brothers being spilt like this but remember you are firefighters and brothers no matter if you are at station 9 or 3 and nobody can ever take that away.Stay strong, go have a beer with your brothers.... HooooRaaaa! As far as the mustache thing, I guess I may have gave you a little much grief about it but now that its gone you are still 1 hot skinny fireman but PLEASE for goodness sake let it grow back, where my brother could be? haha Love ya.

As the guy that nominated you for the Fire/EMS blog of the year award (that you are still a respectable 3rd in)I wanted to put in my two cents (take it for what it's worth).

I really like how you portray your life in the firehouse. The ups and the downs. You have put a personal face on station and a department that I have never heard of 6 months ago or so. And you have done it proud. I think it would be a horrible crime to end the blog outright. It may need to be tweaked now that assignments have been changed, but you are smart fellers. I'll bet you can figure something out. And Capt. Wines I'd really hate to see your writing stop, I enjoyed your posts most of all.

That's about all I got, but no matter what you decide, stay safe, brothers...

I really don't think this blog will stop. "A" shift has always been a huge contributor, in fact they started the blog. I know I've enjoyed the huge response nation wide and amazed by the following. So long as my new captain allows it I will continue to try and keep the post going for "C" shift I just can't promise the writing prowess of an "arthur" like Captain Wines. Thank you everyone for the inspiring and motivational comments. I feel as though Thank You isn't enough though.

Willie- you look much younger without the mustache. It took a solid 5 years off your actual age. Really, you could pass for 50 now!! Bad thing is you will not get the discount at Kroger on Tuesdays any longer.
